Can anyone tell me about the Jefferson Heights area of San Antonio. I would like to hear both the good and not so good. I don't know anything about it. Is it a safe more crime ridden? What part of the city is it located in? What is near by etc.? I don't want to start any arguments, please be helpful. Thanks.

We live about two miles from Jefferson hs, between Babcock and Fred Rd., but not in Balcones Heights. We love our neighborhood. Our house is amazing - built in '59, brick all the way around, original hardwood floors, tons of built-ins, etc.

We've lived here three and a half years and have had no issues at all. Our neighbors are great and everyone watches out for each other.

Pm me if you want more specifics on the location.

When we were looking for a home to buy two years ago, we were looking in the Jefferson Heights and Monticello area. I love the character of the homes and proximity to Woodlawn Lake and the Deco District. Ultimately, we ended up buy a home in Highland Hills on the southeast side, the homes are very similar, especially those with proximity along Hiawatha street near Highlands High school. The Southside Lions Park with its large lake compares to the amenities that you find in Jefferson Hieghts at the nearby Woodlawn Lake. The difference is that the home prices in Highland Hills and Highland Park are about half the price (around $65K -75k). Although the homes within a 2 to 3 block radius around Southside lions park/highlands high school run a premium ($95 - $160k). You don't have a close proximity to the Deco District, but are very close to Southtown/King Williams and the Mission Reach portion of the San Antonio River. Also, very close modern shopping at City Base and the renovated McCreless Shopping Center. We are very happy living in the Highlands area.
