My family and I will be relocating to SA next month and are looking at places to live. My wife will be working at Ft. Sam and I will be either at Randolph or Lackland not sure which yet. We've been looking at new homes in the MacArthur Park subdivision in Converse. I know that if I'm at Lackland then that will be a bad commute for me but I would rather have the commute than my wife. Anyone with info on the area? I've heard bad things about the school district and with a 3 and 7 year old that's important. Any info on the area or any suggestions on other areas with a ok commute to both sides of town is greatly appreciated.

You can find the answers to most of your questions be searching the San Antonio forum but do you really want a bad commute and bad school district? What other motivation could there be to live way out in Converse?

I have searched the forum and most posts were 2-3 years old. Looking for newer information. I don't know the school district is bad only what I've seen from a couple people which is why I am asking. Converse is not a bad commute for my wife so I am willing to accept a bad commute so that she does not have to if we end up working on opposite sides of town. I asked about areas that are a decent commute to both sides if town. Do you care to share any info on that?

Windcrest would be a much better commute for you both, better schools too.

Nothing much has changed in regard to the area. I would recommend looking between 410 and 1604 between 10 and 281 to give both of you a horrid commute. The schools are good no matter which area you move to within those boundaries.

Just like smuboy86 stated, Windcrest is probably a better choice for you for the commute between you and your wife.

I know nothing about the schools in Windcrest or any other part of San Antonio for that matter (not a parent), but I can tell you that Windcrest had some really shady and rundown pockets. Just make sure you avoid them.

Lol at windcrest being rundown! I can't think of a property in the city of windcrest that would meet that could be halfway considered shady or run down.

lol reread what I said. I didn't say "windcrest is run down". I said there are shady pockets in windcrest.

Now when you said there are NO rundown areas in Windcrest then I disagree with you.

Well the burden of proof is on you, tell us what area is rundown, provide the address if possible.
