While I like HEB much better than Wally World, the prices for food IS cheaper at Wally...and if the competition makes it move, you could get squashed. Would be interesting to see if Walmart has bought property closer to us then the aboved mentions areas...which could push up build time to ensure your "loyalty"???? Competition is ALWAYS in the best interest of the consumer!!! It will be a reg HEB, not a PLUS store or Central Market type.
Any new scoop on our HEB? I can't wait to see a design rendering. I'm hoping it's something like the Alon Market HEB. That's a really nice store.

Asked about it today at HEB Plus and they said it was going to be a small corner store. BOO!! Maybe they will change their minds since it's going to take so long to bild it.

A friend was in the AR office today and said the map shows a WalMart across from HEB!

HEB doesn't have small corner stores. That employee either lied to you or doesn't know what they're talking about.

This is incorrect. HEB most certainly does have a corner store model. I was in one of them a while back on a trip to Houston. Can't recall exactly where it was but I thought it was kind of cute. Didn't carry a whole lot but it was cute. It was the size of a Dollar General

I hope this isn't true. WalMart is the last thing we need in AR. Plus, there is already one on Westwood Loop on the other side of Culebra. Either way, it doesn't look like WalMart owns the property, so hopefully that means there is no truth to it. See below.

Yes - I've shopped the HEB corner store. It was in Houston. I was NOT impressed. Extremely limited items available. Guess it would be OK for a milk/bread run only, but wouldn't do for me as the weekly grocery shopping trip.

According to the WalMart employees at the Westwood Loop location, that store is soon being turned into a Sam's Club

That would be terrific news in my opinion. We are long overdue for a Sam's or Costco over here.
