The rumor of Disney Texas has apparently been circulating since the 90s (according to several websites when I googled Disneyland Texas).

The first thing is to search for a job in the area you want to live (San Antonio or Houston?). If you choose San Antonio, here are some helpful links:

I've personally heard it from 5 different people who have no connection to one another. They tell me because they know that my family and I travel to Disney World every year. We're Disney fanatics and the thought of building a park in San Antonio totally blows my mind.

3 of the 5 people say they are buying property west of the city...towards Castroville. I don't know how they actually know it's Disney as they would be buying up property under fictitious/dummy companies like they did in Florida.

This past weekend at my daughters b-day party, one of my friends who is a contractor for a huge company told me that they were coming to San Antonio too. He sayd, and i quote "Why do you think they're expanding the airport?" and my heart started racing again. It makes alot of sense, but again, i don't wanna keep my hopes up.

Regarding hotels, i just don't see enough hotels in the area to meet the demand of our tourist/convention city as it stands right now. When Katrina hit, everyone was nearly booked...for the exception of the high dollar rooms, which were most likely booked as a last resort to being homeless for the families with a bit of money.

They are going to have to make alot of hotels out on highway 90 towards Castroville if that is indeed the proposed site. I've seen hotels come up pretty quickly around the west side so i know building them won't take too long. If/when they build the park, it will be several years before completion you'd have to assume. Within that time-frame they will have enough time to build the resort hotels as the theme park is being built. When Disney builds something they do it right.

The biggest thing for me is the airport facilities. From what i see them expanding at the airport, it's not enough to host the magnitude of people that will be coming to the park. They are going to have to add ALOT of terminals and additional carriers to meet the demand IMO.

I have also heard this rumor. But what I heard is it will be at 211 and Hwy 16 (past Helotes). I've heard also that a large ranch was recently purchased by Disney in this area.
I know that they are putting in some HUGE power lines there right now. and Northside ISD is going to build 2 elementary schools in the area and a 1000 home subdivision is coming in.

Also, this is all hear say, so who really knows?

There is a huge subdivision going in out there now, Redbird Ranch ( http://www.bizjournals.com/sanantoni...28/story1.html http://www.drhorton.com/corp/GetComm...dv=C3&pr=43993 ). It's actually where 211 hits Potranco, just a little north of 90. Going to have a major sports area, olympic size pool *and* kiddie pool, and two party houses. We were looking at buying out there, but with DR Horton getting fined for chopping down too many trees at another subdivision in the Alamo Ranch area, didn't feel like subsidizing them.

The entrance is going to be a split two-lane road with lifesize bronze longhorns between the two lanes. Just a liiiittle cheezy

I've also heard this. My hubby who is a delivery driver has heard also from three different people. He also points out that they are expanding SA Intl airport. We'd have many great places to build hotels to accomodate tourists. Plus we are half way between Florida and California so it makes sense to build one here.

Default Disney is coming!

I've personally live in one of the newer developments just outside loop 1604 near Culebra (471) <5 miles from Sea World (I can see it's tallest building from my front porch) and 9 from Fiesta Texas. I know for a fact, I looked it up at the courthouse after hearing the rumor. Disney bought nearly 300 acres almost literally across the street from me. There is plenty of land available just west of my neighborhood for a park. Disney must have some sort of plan but what I don't know. I'm personally hoping it's a park, so I can sell my home at a nice profit. The real estate in the area has been going up in value ~7% a year. This is higher than the national average. Are they building a park? I can't say for sure but even locally rumors are flying, but they have bought land and let it sit for decades only to resell it later before. SA central location would be fairly ideal and large local and State population. Also the airport while not able to currently support the influx has room for expansion itself.

Disney in San Antonio? Interesting...

I know Walt Disney Co. seriously considered a park around Houston back in the 1980s...I hadn't heard any interest from them since...but if they are coming to Texas, the San Antonio region makes sense...there is tourist 'synergy' in the area, with the Fiesta/Sea World/Alamo-Riverwalk-Downtown attractions really offering something for everyone.
