I just wanted to let everyone know that Taco Cabana (1604/Potranco) has decided to be the official "Home of the Stevens Falcons". Every night after a Stevens High School Varsity football game, they will have a box next to the registers where people can put their receipts. They will then give a percentage of the money earned that night to the Athletic Booster Club so that it can go back to the students there. What an awesome thing for them to do. Sure it will be crowded those evenings, but it will give the feeling of a small community rallying around the "local" team, not to mention giving back to our kids. Thank you to the management and staff of Taco Cabana! You will always have my business!

Last Friday night after the Stevens/Wagner scrimmage, they donated over $200.00 to the Booster Club! Imagine after a real game, and the word has gotten out!

Default the signs are up

I know it's been discussed here before - but only as speculation from what I could find.
Just passed 1604/Culebra and the new signs are up for Best Buy, Super Target, and lots more. Looks like it will mirror Bandera/1604 for retail options.
There's a few nice(ish) restaurants at that shopping center, so maybe we'll get lucky, finally!

Anyone got any recent scoop on the Grenada?

I think there's a diagram somewhere on here of everything (that they know about) for that shopping center (the one outside 1604 just south of Culebra) and I can't wait for it.. could've saved about 20 miles on my trip to Best Buy this morning...

anybody have a firm opening date on that Burger King? I went to the one on Lackland yesterday and had forgotten how good they are (compared to mcdonals, whataburger and jack in the box). We need a wendy's too. I went to the one on Culebra yesterday just to get some chili and they were out of it.. I was crushed

Default Future NISD High School

This weekend, a buddy of mine was saying that they will be building a new high school at Potranco & Grosenbacher (across from the strip mall). Can anyone confirm or deny this rumor? The same guy also said that they will be building a new NISD stadium @ 1604 and Wiseman (outside the loop). Does anyone know about this? I really like this side of town, but it is getting more and more difficult to deal with the traffic. Maybe it's time to move to the 'burbs, Castroville that is.

Default New Potranco West High will be named in Feb 08

The new high school is planned north of Potranco closer to Wiseman, just west of 1604. Here's a link from NISD on the approximate location. Ground will be broken for the new school in March of 08.

Profile : "Potranco West area" : Northside Independent School District - San Antonio, TX 78238

Haven't heard anything about another stadium..the one off Hausman and 1604 is fairly new and in the recent Bond election, no mention was made of using monies toward yet another stadium site.

Default Whataburger Opens Friday

Just got back from Taco Cabana, and I noticed a sign on the Whataburger that says it will open this Friday afternoon.

The Burger King and Panda Express also look like they are close to opening. Anybody got an opening date for them? Kohls?
