I would also look into the Shavano Park area (not necessarily Shavano Park proper). The homes are older (70s/80s) but have some good character. The neighborhoods are spread out and not one on top of each other. The schools are very good and you are right between 410 and 1604. The airport will be about a 20 minute drive. You will also be very close to shopping both right by your home and just up the road at La Cantera. Yes, there will be some horrible construction that you will have to deal with but the end result will be worth it. I might be partial to the area but I would recommend looking. Zips are 78249 and 78230.

I agree that Shavano Park is great location and nice community. I considered living there at one point myself. I don't know if there are as many young families with kids running around as you would experience in Stone Oak or Boerne, but it still ranks up there highly. That said, is it possible to find a home not in need of major work for $350,000 or less in this area? I'm honestly not sure, but it sounds like a stretch.

The schools are great and just outside of Shavano Park 350k is not a stretch, within Shavano Park itself it may be a stretch, however there are some newer neighborhoods that may make that possible. And fwiw I grew up in the area and see families moving in all the time.

A zip I really enjoy is 78248- all of the Inwoods are very nice. Great established neighborhoods with lots of families and trees

I would also encourage you to look at Rogers Ranch (there are several within) and also any of the Vineyards. Zips to those are 78258.... though I'm not totally sure they are considered Stone Oak.

Finally, look at Emerald Forest- zip is 78259

All great, family friendly neighborhoods with good schools! GL and welcome to SA!

Boerne is fine but that's a looong drive to the airport every day. You have plenty of other options, with much better locations IMO.

agreed! Boerne is lovely but wow, that's just a long drive to SAT.
