This never should have happened. Unfortunately, it did.

At the risk of sounding like the bad guy here, nobody has ever been sitting on their psychiatrists couch as an adult and said "it all went wrong in kindergarten".

Kids adapt MUCH quicker than we do and these things don't scar them. Get her involved in some other play groups and don't make a big deal out of it to her. If you don't, she won't. She'll move on and be a happy kid.

It sucks, but personally, I'd take it as a blessing and just move on. The kid will forget about it quickly. Follow their lead.

And yes, I've got two little ones (6 and 3).

An IEP is for special education students only. Unless you suspect that she has a disability, either learning or behavioral, then there is no need for a special education referral.

However, some districts do have school psychologists consult with behavior problems before the special education process is started. You might inquire about having a school psych observe your daughter and make suggestions (including advanced work) that will help her, especially if she has behavior problems that are taking up the teacher's time (from the school's perspective that would make having the psych consult a good idea)

any reason you cant keep her in private schooling? public schools are nowhere near as 'good' as they used to be back in the day. thought about homeschooling?

kids adapt faster to bad news than you think.
