A few years ago, there was a thread on Reagan Hs with this same title, and as I was combing through the posts, I found that many of the perceptions held then still exist today. Not saying they are true or false, but many mentioned entitlement, helicopter parenting, a significant drug problem and a competitive environment, academically & athletically. Is this the perception today? Is it the reality? What are the positives? It seems to me that Reagan produces high achieving students, for the most part, and that colleges & universities look favorably on its graduates. It has a great rating by the state, and is high in national rankings I've seen. I'm wondering if the things people complain about aren't really isolated to Reagan but actually widespread issues that MOST upper middle class high schools are experiencing right now with "kids today."

If you have personal experience with Reagan right now, what has your experience been like?

I think you are right. Hover parents and kids with money who dont always do good things with it are characteristics of schools in upper mid class and above... at least when it comes to public schools where the only filter is economic class vs. a medical high school where the kids are more like minded. Im more concerned with academic performance over all as a signal of my kids's surroundings.

You will find drugs anywhere. You will find helicopter parenting in many places.
