What is the best time period to start applying for teaching positions for next school year? We just moved back down here this August and I am currently teaching, but am interested in moving to a different district. I am certified EC-4 and 4-8 (generalist, English/Lang Arts/Rdg, and Social Studies).
Thanks.

Default March Madness

It might not hurt to go ahead and get the application started, however March is usually contract renewal time so principals begin to get a better idea of who is staying who is leaving etc... However until they get their staffing projections for the upcoming year it's hard to know how many teachers they will be allotted for the next year. Some districts make you go through a pre-interview with the district so it might not be a bad idea to get that ball rolling, but don't be disheartened if you don't hear things right away. December/January is always very busy especially since we all started "late" so for most districts their semesters won't wrap up until after we return from break in Jan.
