I went into the junk Goodwill Store today just to see what it's about since I had never been to one, and my wife gives so much stuff to them each year. Well, I told her there will be no more "giving" to Goodwill by us. It's a big profit SCAM. If I give an organization something to help the needy I do not expect them to turn around and put it on a shelf for someone less fortunate to have to pay for it. I saw all sorts of stuff in there being sold for this and that.
I have no idea what ya'll's opinion on this is, but if your thinking "well, they have to pay for their employees, etc...somehow" don't even start with me. I have worked with the Red Cross, and many other "charitable" organizations for YEARS now, and this is not what Goodwill does. They are a straight up resale shop. Anyway, maybe this is only news to me, but I had no clue. My wife will be giving to another source from now on.

I think the idea is that they sell stuff at a reasonable price in order to MAKE MONEY to support the charity. You don't have to show proof that you are poor to shop at Goodwill, so if they sold everything for ten cents, a bunch of rich people would go in there, buy the place out and sell it all on E-Bay. By selling things at a reasonable price, they can make money while still providing bargains for people on fixed incomes.

I normally donate to the place that has the trailer set up at the Kohl's parking lot on Bandera/1604. (Sorry can't remember the name of it)

Here's the website that kinda explains things that will hopefully make you feel a bit better about all the giving you given in the past:
Goodwill Industries International - How We Operate
There are plenty of organizations out there. I recently gave some things to the women's shelter that I didn't want to see on a GW resale rack. Some things I like to give directly to the "getter", others...I just don't want it anymore so figure someone can use it and we'll both be happy!

Looks like the children's learning lighthouse is really going up fast. I love their red metal-framed lighthouse that pops up just above the treeline as I drive toward AR Pkwy out of the Pulte neighborhood.

AR has plenty of things to enjoy. Especially the wildlife.
Buzzards floating in the wind. A brown tail hawk that scans the area around DR Horton where the school will be built. Owls (also known as lechusas in spanish) perched on the chimneys at night.Wild hogs roaming the area. Deer frolicking in the grass.
By the way, we saw a coyote eating a deer that had been hit by a car before getting to Valero about 2 weeks ago.
P.S. Lechusas are thought to be witches in Mexico. Just thought I'd throw that out there.
There is so much to see and hear.

This is about all the info that I've seen so far.
Profile : "Westwinds area" : Northside Independent School District - San Antonio, TX 78238
Boundaries aren't even being discussed for it yet. (Next up is Brennan HS and then Alamo Ranch area MS.) Considering that the boundaries for Hoffman ES, which opens this fall, were just announced in November ~ it could be awhile before much info is out about the "Westwinds area ES".

Aha, that makes sense now. I never saw the school and when I looked at buying on the DR Horton side, the sales lady told some severe lies about DR Horton and the area. I wasn't sure if her lies were still spreading... (They were lies in other areas, not elementary school location or anything, I actually walked out of the sales office POd because she thought I would just buy her stories).
Nice, two elementary schools in AR!
So are the elementary parents going to continue to send their kids to Ward, or will they move to Hoffman for two years, then switch to Westwinds area?
