I wouldn't say that.

Stone Oak isn't the epicenter for new, exciting dining. That would be Southtown, Peal and Downtown. If you want chain-concepts, sure, Stone Oak is great. If you want some of the best chefs in South Texas, I'd recommend the other mentioned neighborhoods.

You can live near 281 and 1604 and avoid most of the traffic, you just need to stay inside Loop 1604. I live off 281 and thousand oaks, about 1 to 2 miles south from 1604 and we hardly ever deal with the traffic. You can look into Hollywood Park if you'd like, that has a nice mix of people as well as several subdivisions in Hill Country Village. Hollywood Park is in the 300 to 450k range and Hill Country Village is about 200 to 300k.

"happening" is very subjective with respect to Stone Oak's dining and shopping.
