Hi Guys,

I am giving birth with my son one of these days. I am looking for a good pediatrician. I am living close to Medical Center. And we haven't found yet for a pedia. So, can any of you recommend me for the good one?

Thanks for the reply in advance.

Glady

First Steps Pediatrics - Babcock and Louis Pasteur

Named one of the top pediatricians by his peers in a San Antonio magazine article

We've been with them for 5 years and drive from far away to go there

My wife went to Four Seasons OB/GYN with Dr Nancy Rector-Finney. She was great and my wife loves her. We drove from the NorthEast to Med Center for every appt just to see her.

What are your priorities?

For example, the biggest issue for me was a pedi who was supportive (and encouraging and knowledgeable) of breastfeeding and wouldn't try to push formula if DD wasn't keeping up with the curve. I also wanted someone who wouldn't push antibiotics at every little sniffle. I didn't want a pedi who was going to push any particular parenting style. So I asked like-minded parents I knew for their recommendations. I also preferred an office that had separate waiting areas for sick vs. well child visits.

Many recommended Dr Michael Ozer (on Ewing Halsell). We've been happy there and happy with the other docs and NP in the office, however honestly Dr Ozer seems to always be away. We often saw Dr Jaime Hyslop, whom I loved, but he moved and I'm not sure where. I'm considering finding a new pedi only because of convenience (I'd prefer someone downtown), but otherwise do highly recommend Dr Ozer's office for the issues that were of concern to me.

We took our kids to first steps for about 4 years and loved it. Then one day my son had an infected ingrown toe nail. Dr. Lantry was in a hurry that day and decided to remove the nail without anesthesia (sp?). My son was only 4 at the time. We never went back!!! I would NOT recomment Dr. Lantry.

Default Pediatrician

Hi. We came from PA and could not believe how hard it was to find a decent (not-clinic looking) pediatric office. We were used to a nice office there and it was a tough find. Actually we found one on medical drive. It's in a beautiful building and excellent staff. My kids doc is Dr Boyleston. They love going there (even on shot day) and my daughter pretends she's her at home. Here's the webpage: http://www.southwestchildrenscenter.com
There you'll find all the info you need.

Hope this helps.
