Really? There aren't any decent grogery stores in Canyon Lake?

CanyonLakeMom - I am thinking about moving to Canyon Lake. How are the schools? Would my kids get bored? Where do you grocery shop?

The only school I know about are the ones on the South Side of the Lake. There is the brand new Startzville Elem and it just opened this year. THe COmal ISD school all have great reputations. My kids will go to Bill Brown Elem. and it is AWESOME!
There is either Smithson Valley High School or Canyon Lake HS which is brand new. I think you can't go wrong with the schools out here.
My kids are never bored! We go into SA or NEw Braunfels all the time. We do movies, library, the zoo etc.. Out neighborhood has a pool so that helps too.
Grocery shopping is a bummer. I drive to the HEB at 281/46 and it rocks. The one closest to me is probably Super S but I only go there for milk, butter, bread, etc. if I run out. It did take me some getting used to to drive 15 miles to the grocery.

Thanks you so much for the info CanyonLakeMom New Braunfels is about a 30 min drive from there huh? That's not too bad. Sounds like the schools there are great. That's a big relief. What part of Canyon Lake would you suggest moving to?

I am only familiar with the South side of the Lake. I like it because we are closer to SA and New Braunfels. I have heard that the North and South sides are completely different though. You probably would not want to live on the north side and commute to SA to work, if that is the plan for you.

Thank you again CayonLakeMom I'll let you know if we do end up moving to Canyon Lake. I am sure you are a well spring of helpful info and I'd appreciate all the help you can give me. My husband was offered a job in TX and we have the advantage to choose where ever we want to live. Canyon Lake is high on my list

Default Motown Mary,

I live in Motown and used to live around Canyon Lake. The commute is too
far, canyon lake is past new braunfels even, forget the lake stuff. I know it is nice
here with al the lakes but it is very dry down there.
Lots of shopping in new braunfels but canyob lake is pretty remote.

It looks like a very beautiful area.
Are all of the shopping amenities available near Canyon Lake?
We are moving from Michigan & will miss all of our beautiful lakes so this looked like a good option.

I wonder if a lightrail line out to Canyon Lake would be successful?

I am moving to CL also, does anybody know roughly the commute time to the VA hospital? And which one, I will be caring for a blind veteran. Are there more than 1?
