Can anyone tell me anything about Poteet Texas? I wanted to know about the school system, the economy, etc...Anything a person would need to know for a possible relocation sight unseen
Thanks!

Not much other than it has the Annual Strawberry Festival. And, it now has a Mayor that is a registered sex offender...big story in MYSA.com.

Thumbs down Don't do it!!

jk (well, somewhat)

Why in the world would you want to move to Poteet? We lived on the outskirts, north of Poteet for several years and I am SOOOOOO glad we don't live there anymore. My daughter and her husband live on a farm near Poteet now, and she'd love to get outta there as well (but alas, son-in-law loves farm life).

Schools - we didn't use the public schools while we lived there. We homeschooled, so couldn't tell ya.

Economy - farming or welfare. Pretty much stinks.

Work ethic - see above

Residents - everybody knows everybody and each others business. Unless you're a third generation resident, your kid won't win anything at the stock show. Nothin' for the teenagers to do but stay at house parties till 5 or 6 in the morning, hookin' up.

Sight unseen? Well, the town itself is pretty darned ugly. Some of the farms outside of town are pretty. Lots of grass farms. Well, it's pretty this year cause we had lots of rain. Last year it looked like a dust bowl and everyone was scrambling to sell off their cattle cause they had no grass in the fields to feed them.

(Can you tell I'm glad to be outta there??? )

And the Strawberry Festival isn't worth the effort. We drove down one year, saw the crowds and turned around and came home. Didn't see anything that would have tempted us to stop and get out...

Cheers! M2

And in case you didn't catch it the first time, The Mayor is a Registered Sex Offender! In fact, he was already accused of the crime during the election and the people still voted him in.

I could not even believe this was the truth in fact I had to research the subject for myself. I want to work with children and so after that reputation as a mayor, I will certainly look at other options...THANKS
