They are not cab drivers. Cab drivers are the ones against any type of rideshare service like Uber or Lyft, most of them anyways.

With that being said, it seems like many Uber and Lyft drivers are working to make extra income and probably have other jobs. Wouldn't surprise me if some do have some business sense to form a local cooperative here.

Just the opposite... Those cities are listening to their constituents and allowing adults to make choices.

"Our citizens alone in Alamo Heights have expressed to me that they want a choice in who gives them a ride when they want one," said Alamo Heights Mayor Louis Cooper, who has used ride-share services in San Antonio and other cities. "I think it's an alternative, and I believe in competition and I believe competition is good for everybody."

Uber may not be able to operate on the streets of San Antonio, but the ride-hailing company might be getting the green light in an Alamo City suburb.
The Windcrest City Council will meet today to consider authorizing Uber to operate there, which would allow it to use San Antonio streets if the ride initiates in the suburb.
