IIRC, the Sea Island on Bandera inside 1604 has an outdoor playscape.

That was nowhere near a hammer response.

It was suggestion that we follow what the OP asked for: A non-chain, with no further specifics as to a local or national chain. I merely ask that posters practice reading comprehension when responding to something specific that someone is asking. Is that bad?

Try the Cove. It's a really cool place that is kid friendly, nice options for adult beverages, has seafood options and a yummie portobello mushroom cap burger..

Since you asked... when evaluating a reply made in earnest against one which was mingled with condescension, Yes.

Reading comprehension isn't necessarily at play, I myself don't consider Sea Island a chain. It is both locally, and family owned.

Moreover, if you're going to police other's posts, you should really take into consideration your words and phrasing. Else, the irony of your chosen username becomes overwhelming.

What part of town? I get the impression from your post that you do not want a restaurant that is geared towards kids. Rather, one that has yummy food but is also accepting of children? I could be way more helpful if I know what area of town you will be dining.

Good lord, with a reply that long-winded, I'm sorry I asked

On Austin Hwy, not far off Broadway, The Purple Garlic is amazing. A couple of nights kids eat free - don't remember which ones. Lovely Italian place, most dishes under $10.
