San Antonio sees largest increase in college grads in U.S. - San Antonio Express-News

The Alamo City saw more than a 20 percent increase of individuals with bachelor's degrees from 2007 to 2012, making it the fastest-growing metropolitan area in the country, tied with New Orleans, according to the data.
I can't find the original study to say whether these are people moving to San Antonio (recruitment from USAA, Rackspace, hospitals, etc) or if these are people graduating from schools like UTSA. Nonetheless. It's a good thing.

That is a huge increase and it will only benefit San Antonio in the long run. Companies keep moving here every day so hopefully the jobs and keep pace.

Not trying to rain on the parade (I really do like it here) but growth is a stat that marketers and politicians use to make small numerical and percentage gains look bigger than they are, especially when ....

<quote>San Antonio, Las Vegas and Riverside have the lowest levels of college attainment among 25 to 34 year olds (less than 25 percent in each case), even though in each instance college attainment rates have increased for this age group over the past decade.</quote>

50% growth is not a bad thing, but it's not great given that this growth only translates to a 5% increase of that age group which hold BAs and that this number represents less than 4% of the metro population.

Great post cyvaquero. In college stats course, required reading was a little paperback book called "How to Lie with Statistics". Not that the trend isn't a good thing, but we have a long way to go.

The far right column on the PDF I posted shows you raw number increases of grads. If you look we are gaining more grads than a lot of metros that are a lot larger than San Antonio.
