Default CompUSA closing all stores

CompUSA to close all of its 103 stores after holidays - Dec. 7, 2007 (broken link)

They are having store-closing sales right now for Christmas, in case anyone's interested.

I read on a deals web site from people who checked out the sale that the prices on everything went up by 50% before the markdowns. Consequently, the savings over original prices at this point is small.

Here's a link to some more specific information about why the deals at CompUSA's
closing sale aren't so hot.

From most cities I lived in, the location of these stores was their major issue and the one in San Antonio was no exception. There were more than a few times where I wouldn't go there just because the deal wasn't worth the drive. I probably only saw a great deal (enough to get me to drive over there) about once per year, but it's probably been over two since I last went.

If this stuff is being cleared out by those people that clear out stores that go bankrupt, I'd definitely stay away. I bought a blender from a Sears that was being closed by one of those companies and they wouldn't let me exchange it even though it didn't work at all. I ended up tossing it behind the counter and telling them to keep it (and a few other choice words)..

TexasHen is on a distinguished road
Most of those liquidators hang GIANT, BRIGHTLY COLORED signs all over the store, that say "All Sales Final". Don't blame the messenger, let the buyer beware....

I guess I assumed you could return something that flat-out didn't work.. and obviously I was wrong. Never made a purchase at one of those things since though, it's not worth it
