Bo,

Thank you very much for this information. I just had my TV put up last week, after living in my new house 10 months, and a neighbor was kind enough to give me his "old" antenna, as he had gotten a "stronger" one. I had to ask how to get the channels! BTW, what does "RF" mean?

Now that I have some television channels, I only need them to watch KSAT 12 News and NBC's "Dateline", and maybe a few shows on PBS and TBS. Is there a "TV Guide" of some sort that is available to check upcoming programs on any of the antenna stations? Any other "user friendly" information is appreciated as well. I am totally "technology challenged".

RF is the TV channel that the digital signal is actually broadcast on. As you can see, more often than not, it is NOT the channel number that it the station advertises. This RF channel matters, because it affects whether you need a VHF or UHF antenna to receive the station.

TBS is only available on Cable and satellite. ABC (KSAT 12), NBC, and PBS, among others, are available free with an antenna. The San Antonio market has ~35 channels (including digital sub-channels) available free with an antenna. Some of them may be difficult to receive, unless you have a rooftop antenna, particularly 2.1 & 2.2, which are low-band VHF channels. Time Warner doesn't carry a few of the digital sub-channels, and U-verse and satellite don't have any of them, at least locally.

Many thanks to Bo, Rapunzil and ged_782 for the information! I don't feel nearly as "clueless" any more thanks to the three of you!

Thank you, Deep Forest. Please keep me/the forum updated when you get any additional information relating to antenna TV channels. Since I am "tech challenged", I want to know what I am doing in order to keep my TV viewing current and stress free.
