In two years, we saw and killed one in the driveway. Only there due to construction across the street. Get pest control service and it shouldn't be a problem. If you live in an apartment, well, then it is out of your hands - just find a good one.

the cold weather and taxes are much worse than bug 'problems' in SA.

You know I had no idea I had a fear of roaches until I moved here. In Alaska we had roaches at the restaurant I worked and it didn't bother me they were tiny. Well the first time I saw one here run across me I was paralyzed. Idk why they are harmless, but they are just so darn big!!!

And just when you think you have seen the biggest one, one even bigger comes out. A good indication when renting a house is there will be dead ones around doors. I looked at a really nice house that was remodeled and clean but the second I saw some dead ones by door I knew I would have problem. I rented a 2nd floor condo and haven't seen one yet. Have never seen a scorpion here I don't know what I would do, prob cry, lol.

The neighborhood makes all the difference regarding scorpions. I spent 5 years in Converse and saw maybe 3 the entire time I was there, but the second time I lived there I resided in a neighborhood that was basically a converted pasture. The lots were all 3 to 15 acres and maybe only 25% improved upon. It was not uncommon to see one a week in the house!
