Thanks for the info on Alon. I just went by the Quarry today to pick up a packet on the floorplans. They only have 1 series out as of now...should be another 7 plans coming soon. I'm still hearing from them that the Alon houses are comparable (price/space/etc) with the Quarry as well as the lots...guess the proof will be in the pudding on that one huh? We'll attend a sneak preview around the 1st of next month and I'll make sure and ask those questions.
Have you checked out the Astor floor plan? It has two huge closets in the master bedroom? Very nice floorplan...

Congratulations! How exciting! I actually drove by the neighborhood today, and it's very nice. I would love to see pictures of your house once it's finished.

Be careful of trashing the Pulte houses.

I am sure your neighbors in the Quarry who built before mid 2007 are thrilled that price points in their neighborhood have been lowered by $100k by KB. That really helps with resale value to have the carpet pulled out from you midstream. That type of stuff will hurt KB's reputation, especially with the higher end crowd.

It is a beautiful neighborhood. Enjoy. Let me know when you see more than 1 kid using the playground.

You sound bitter?

Pulte and just about every other production builder has lowered price points or changed product mix over the last year. Look at the Pulte neighborhood at 281/Stone Oak - the price point has dropped $70K...due to a drop in demand and change in housing market. That is all KB has done...lower the price point by introducing cheaper floor plans to adjust to the ever changing housing market. This is just business - not a plan to "pull the carpet out" from under the original home buyers. So...no one is trashing Pulte. But to say that the current KB home mix in the Quarry is nicer than the mix of houses in Iron Mountain Ranch is just an opinion.

Oh...and the playground is nice...I have seen lots of kids using it - which doesn't surprise me as there are lots of kids in the Quarry.

Why do you say that? This thread was started to chronicle my home building experience in the Quarry which so far has gone quite well...

Default Debbie Downers....

banker....
Keep on posting...I have NO idea why some people feel the need to always rain on the parade. This forum has well established that KB had a less than wonderful past but are turning things around...that's been said a trillion times. We've also discussed the fact that some people still don't like KB, okay fine...But that is no the intention of this thread...so MOVE ON PEOPLE. I think this thread is great and for anyone considering building a home will prove to be very useful. We were first time home builders last year and were lucky enough to have friends doing the same thing at the same time so if I had a question or concern about the process they could help me out. I look forward to the updates from you. Best wishes.
