My secretary lost her keys months ago and she thinks it may have been at the river parade during Fiesta. I wrote my councilman's office and got no reply.

Any idea of what city department would be in charge of lost and found items?

There really isn't a way to search the river. It gets cleaned out after the holidays and everything gets thrown out.

It's a long shot, but you could try contacting the Park Police Riverwalk Headquarters...

The City of San Antonio - Official City Website > Park Police > Directory

Park Police Lieutenant - Riverwalk Headquarters 207-6077 C 844-0940
Park Police Riverwalk Patrol SGT Headquarters 207-8512 207-8529

Lost them MONTHS ago?
What happened... she just now sobering up enough to remember?
I'm just playing, but the hope of finding them from that long ago is a long shot. Maybe contact a few of the bars and restaurants along the riverwalk and see if someone turned them in.
Best of luck!

How many keys? Are they really worth the search? Why not just change the most important locks?
You lived MONTHS without them, so what's the problem NOW?

Honestly, unless there is some kind of identifying info on the keys (such as her name, address and/or phone number), why bother changing locks?!? If found, all someone will have is a set of keys; do you really think they are going to drive all around the city trying to find the car/house/apartment/whatever they belong to?

I take it she has spares. If so, just tell her to make another set of keys from them and get on with her life. The chances of finding the lost keys are, as I said, a long shot...

Thanks for all the answers, even the snarky ones. ; ).

She might have lost the keys AT the river, not IN the river.

One of the keys on the chain is to her car, so now she has only 1 key and it is a microchipped key or whatever and the dealer says a new one will be $200.00 +.

Her delay? She has another set of everything. It's that car key she would like to have back rather than buy a new one. And if she loses the one she has . . . .

Seems to me that the City must find a lot of things left behind at our weekly parades. What do they do with all of it?

I had to replace my microchipped key a while back. It was a pain to say the least. After moving things around in my bedroom I found the key buried in a blanket. Whoops. Sometimes you just have to bite the bullet and do it. I needed it that day and dealer said it would take about a week to get a key. Instead I called an independent person (I think through my insurance) and saved a bit of money.

I agree with the major...your best bet is to make a few calls around to the above numbers. Also, be sure to ask them for other agencies that might be involved. Perhaps the cleaning detailer companies?

Even try calling some of the restaurants in the area your friend either walked around or ate at/near.

Otherwise, yes, she will have to just bite the bullet and pay for the fob.

We've done that (unfortunately) for our dear teenagers several times. It's an expensive loss!!! The next one is on them !

Good luck!!!! ~Dandi

You can direct her to Car keys | Remote Keyless Entry | Replacement Car key | Auto transponder or a like website, to get that key fob, then take it to the key guys on General McMullen to program it for you.

Las Palmas Key Shop in San Antonio, TX - 800-399-6516

Price it out and see if it's cheaper than the dealer, I know mine for a Dodge Charger ended up being 100 + cheaper.
