I believe the plan is if MLS awards us an expansion team, it would be the Scorpions moving up to MLS.

Do you have a source for that? Scorpions really are a lower tier than MLS so would require changing players, which isn't so simple, at least not in other leagues.

San Antonio Scorpions know what it will take to join MLS ranks: "This has to be a community effort" | MLSsoccer.com

When a new team joins MLS, they have been holding an expansion draft which is basically existing teams can only protect so many players on their roster and the expansion team gets to pick over what is left. Then the expansion team also gets first pick in the new player draft as well as first place in the allocation order.
http://www.mlssoccer.com/news/articl...on-draft-rules from when Portland and Vancouver joined.

This is how it's worked in the past, but it's of course no guarantee how it would work for the next team.

If you're really interested in what happens, you can look at past seasons when Seattle Sounders in 2009 (former USL team), Portland Timbers in 2011 (USL),Vancouver Whitecaps in 2011 (NASL), Montreal Impact in 2012 (NASL) and joined the league.
Also, this off season, Orlando City (USL Pro) and a brand new team, NYCFC are joining the league.

Don't know about other sports bars, but Flying Saucer was packed long before the game started, and only a dozen or so had team shirts/face paint.
Unfortunately, attendance at several of the bars we went to see matches at after USA went out was DISMAL, consisting almost entirely of the playing country's fans....reinforcing the old adage about the sport's place in America:
Soccer is the sport of the future, always has been, and always will be.

For anyone interested in the history of that saying, it apparently tracks back to a 1974 quote from Kyle Rote Jr. (remember him?) that got corrupted over the years. The Big Apple: “Soccer is America’s sport of the future—and always will be”

First, you're going about it all wrong.
Second, I just don't get why so many soccer fans feel the need to convince everyone how great soccer is. It just seems so needy and I really think it does more harm than good.
Enjoy soccer, bring your friends to the games with you, if they enjoy it, they may bring friends too. If not, no big loss.
