The Alamodome was a good investment but it has served its purpose, time to demolish it and build something else. 4 9.76%
The Alamodome was a good investment and is still serving its purpose. It is a permanent fixture of the San Antonio skyline, it should continue. 13 31.71%

Project for Henry C cronies to get rich. Fought it then and, from the moment it was completed, it proved to be a dump for all that they campaigned on (Spurs etc.).

LOL at those still complaining about the alamodome. So what we didn't get an NFL team? That's not the alamodome's fault that's the NFL's fault. What would have been the alternative to the dome? Keep decrepit hemisfair arena? We would have never hosted the final four, never hosted a college bowl game, or have been able to attract the concert acts that need an a huge arena. Not to mention that the convention center was expanded over the footprint of hemisfair arena allowing us to stay relevant as a convention city. I'm not surprised that people who criticized the street car project still complain about the dome, they obviously don't have any foresight.

Except that I am pretty sure people paid for it based on "we will have an NFL team" and when that didnt happen we ended up with a ton of consolation prizes. I think people wouldnt feel so hosed if they were sold it as "we can attract this, this, this, this, and this" instead of "if we build it we'll get an NFL team!"

It was also heavily promoted as convention space and a MLB venue. Really, it was promoted as whatever they thought people wanted to hear. After the stadium was approved by the voters, they said "oops! Sorry, it will cost too much to make it suitable for football AND baseball". That left a bad taste in the mouths of many baseball fans that still lingers today.

not only that but the right field area is too short. if only they made the dome bigger to make it extremely perfect for baseball. and added a permanent press box
