This is my first post so.... yeah, me.

Is there a place around here that a guy can get a haircut? Before anyone mentions SportsClips, or Supercuts....I've tried those places already. I'm looking for a place privately owned business without any gimmicks. Thanks for having me on here and thanks for your responses.

If you find yourself in Boerne, I recommend Gent. Great locally owned spot for the upscale gentleman.

What you haven't told us is whether you want a stylist or a barber. The places you mentioned above are basic chop shops where quick turnover is the key element.

If you want a great cut, a helluva barber and a enjoyable environment, I recommend seeing Manny in the basement of the Sheraton Gunter (Downtown, Houston St). One of the best barber shops in San Antonio... And likely the one with the longest history.

The key to a good cut is if they use scissors not the electric buzz cutter.

In my experience, the scissors barbers do a much better job.

The typical chain places that give their off-the-street new hire lady barbers a quick training period do not have time for scissors.

YMMV

I use Thomas @ X-Cel Hair Salon. He does extremely high quality work and is very consistent. Definitely does NOT use the electric buzz cutter. You need to allocate around 45 min for the cut. You won't be let down.
