I know what you're saying, and it's good advice. But I definitely wouldn't move to a new city 300 miles from home without a job.

P.S. I'm female...so not a brutha.

USAA has a large IT department also. Might want to look there too.

We do have a lot of IT jobs here in the SA area, and others are right, there isn't much talent in the area. I was helping interview for a developer position at a previous job about a year ago, and it was so hard to find a good fit for the position.

Sorry, but we aren't currently hiring at my current place of employment. Good luck!

I agree with the comments regarding the short supply of talent in IT. I'm not saying talent doesn't exist here, but is rather hard to come by. We had to hire our Citrix Engineer from out of state; same with our developer. We had some qualified applicants from the Austin area but were asking too much in compensation for the market here.

Our Help Desk staff was recruited from out of state. We hired some locals at the beginning but kept having the same repetitive issues with punctuality and attendance (a constant problem in SA) , a willingness to step up to the task at hand (sense of urgency) and excellent customer service skills.

I admit when I started my search here in DFW, a few recruiters from San Antonio did contact me and asked me if I was open to relocating down there. I said no.

I did accept a job up here in DFW today so I won't be coming to SA anytime soon but I will definitely keep it under consideration for the future!

PFFFFFFFBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBT.

Just kidding. I should treat you to a 'rita next time I'm in town. It won't be until summer's over though. Don't want to drive 300 miles in this heat!
