Our family loves pumpkin seeds and every year we run out so fast. This year we thought we would buy a lot of pumpkins locally and make a lot of seeds.
With that said, where is the best place to buy several at a reasonable price. I remember they can get expensive.

Thank you for the feedback you can offer.

There is usually a mobile pumpkin patch at the church at the corner of DeZavala and Vance Jackson. I would assume they would start setting up end of August/Middle of September

University United Methodist Church is where you are thinking. There are also several other Methodist churches that do this as a youth fundraiser. Therea re other churches that do this too. Getting local pumpkin sees outside of Halloween time, though, may be a stretch.

Almost every United Methodist church sells pumpkins as a fundraiser in the days leading up to Halloween.

I love pumpkin seeds too and eat them in my morning cereal. I buy them already roasted and shelled by the pound at HEB in the produce department. I can't imagine all the work needed to "harvest" them even if I could buy enough pumpkins to last me a year.

I used to save the seeds when I carved pumpkins with my kids. It was easy to do, wash them well let them dry on a cookie sheet then spray them with a little oil sprinkle with salt and bake until crisp maybe 10 minutes.
Alamo Heights Methodist Church has a huge pumpkin patch every year and we have one in Boerne although I don't know where it will be that park is under reconstruction right now.

I cannot stomach the store bought ones.

Visit these places during the sale days and ask about leftovers when they close shop. You can purchase for dollars off, otherwise many places just throw them in the trash or leave them for the deer/human scavengers. If you offer to purchase for the reasons suggested, the churches may see this as a source of income and may provide you an opportunity. They may also offer you the broken ones or those that are rotting (the seeds are typically still good, even though the outer skin is decaying). Happy hunting.
