Raiders would fit the SA image, and their color scheme makes sense. Black and Gray like the spurs, I bet thats what people think about subconsciously.

But would people in SA even be able to afford Raiders tickets all year long? If people are saying they can barely afford Spurs games, how the heck are you gonna go to Raiders games too?
I think people will be able to find the money for 8 games. Including the playoffs, the Spurs have 50+ home games a year.

You'll get some "out of the area " (think Austin) money coming to see Sunday games as well. Much more so than the Spurs get for a Tuesday night game during the regular season. 2 pre-season, 8 regular season and any playoff games they might get to....easy sell outs, I would think.

And don't forget the Rio Grande Valley - if you get a team in here that can "connect" to the valley folks, yeah - they'll buy the tickets!

That market as well as Austin is much bigger than Oakland's & about as big as LA if not slightly bigger. If the Raiders really want the $$$ they need to come down here. Us Texans loves football, more so than Cali imo.

It would work easily!! Just look at how good utsa has done and that's only college. Not bad for not being named the long horns or aggies. Just imagine an actual nfl team of our own. Money is no issue. I look at it this way. If the cowboys or even Texans played all their home games here (lets say they had to for a specific reason) they would sell out easily or if not, at least draw what the saints did yrs back. 8 home games plus playoffs, piece of cake.

San Antonio Metro 2,277,550

Austin Metro 1,883,051

Rio Grande Valley 1,233,272

Laredo Metro 262,495

Corpus Christi Metro 442,600

Total for South Texas 6,104,968

Obviously they won't take all these regions into consideration, but that is alot of people with money to spend.

This is very true. The high school teams aren't the greatest, but they get lots of support. When Harlingen played Madison in Kingsville a couple of years ago, there were 6,000 tickets sold in advance, and most of them were in the stadium hours before kickoff. They will show up regardless of the price.
