Head east on I-10, between here and Seguin, and visit the truck stops. Truck stops are the last places in the US that still service the CB hobby in any significant way.

Default Ditto:

On both recommendations, Radio Shack may have to order your parts as things have changed
since they were so widely used. I haven't been in for years for that purpose to radio shack. A CB is great tool for long road trips. Truckers on CB radios can direct you to anything you may need, usually, exit ramp numbers; for restaurants and landmarks, chatter about any road construction en route , slow downs, road blocks for accidents where the service drive is the best way around the site, tire shops, etc.
Smokies radar traps....Amazing sometimes the encyclopedic memory these people have about locations of interstate exit ramp #'s in many , many cities of the country.

Larger Truck Stops will have many parts on hand and on display. Not so sure about the availability of a Radio Mounting bracket being available immediately. Maybe.

A lot of retailers have been changing their business model to where brick & mortar stores carry only the most popular products, with their online store carrying a much greater selection. CB radios are a niche market today, so I'm not surprised Radio Shack doesn't carry them in their retail outlets.

Try to find a conventional rooftop multi-element UHF/VHF TV antenna at a local retailer. Radio Shack stores may actually carry a couple of models, out of the several they offer. Other retailers are unlikely to offer these antennas at all in their local stores.

Yep, I picked up an antenna for my Jeep (a Firestik 3 tunable one) at one of those truck stops for $16.99 + tax.

Otherwise, there's a guy over near the southern end of Lackland (Hamby's Darts and stuff, 123 Whitewood, 78242; (210) 673-9466) that stocks radio parts.

Don't forget you'll need a SWR meter to tune it!

Cheers! M2
