Woke up to three incredibly loud explosion sounds at about 1230 this morning (friday). It sounded like transformers blowing and then the power went out for about 20 minutes. After that, tons of emergency vehicles showed up.

Can't seem to find out anything the news or their websites. Anyone have any idea what happened?

I drove past there a few hours ago and saw skid marks leading up to a utility pole CPS Energy was replacing.

Someone mentioned they saw something on the news where all you could see was tire tracks leading up to a pole and the driver split the car in two and died.. Hopefully not yet another drunk, but if it was hopefully they only took out themselves and the pole.

I don't think we should make any assumptions on it until we hear the facts. Your comment could come off as offensive to family of anyone involved in the accident. I'm sure it wasn't your intentions, however there could be multiple reasons for an accident and they aren't always in our control (blowing a tire for example).

I dont think rd2007 made an assumption here, basically hoping that it was not another drunk story to add to the other ones we have seen. Thats what I saw when I saw the word "hopefully" in there two times.

That one happened at 410 and Fredericksburg. Not Thousand Oaks. Unfortunately there were a couple of bad ones last night.

And it's pretty normal to make an assumption that they were drunk at that time of night, because unfortunately, that's most often found to be the case.

I said hopefully because I hoped it wasn't yet another one. SA is up to 220 fatalities caused by drunk drivers this year and that is an extremely unsatisfactory number that I would love to see decreased to zero next year.. ergo the hope..
