Has anyone had any experience with Higgs Carter King Charter Academy? I'm thinking about sending my children to this charter school.

Higgs Carter King STAAR Accountability 2014 shows the school needs improvement based on the STAAR test. As a teacher, I know many factors come into play with these ratings... but in 2013 they had the same ranking. In 2012, accountability ratings were not given due to the change from TAKS to STAAR. In 2011 they were Academically Acceptable when the TAKS test was in place (ratings at that time were - from the lowest - Unacceptable, Acceptable, Recognized, and Exemplary, so in basic terms on a scale of 1 to 4 they were a 2). Again state tests do not mean everything - or much of anything, honestly - but at the same time a pattern of mediocre scores might make one question the academic program overall. If you are sending your children there, determine what you want your kids to get out of going there... and maybe talk to an administrator regarding the low scores if they are a concern.

Good luck with your decision.
