Agree, bottom line is the same, it will not happen, though I don't agree that SA can't support a team. However a new stadium, and more importantly Jerry Jones, are huge obstacles. In this town I also believe that if the Spurs see a potential team as a threat, it would never happen. It is absolutely crazy the influence they have in this town.

Please don't use other experimental leagues like etc... WFL, USFL, WLAF, and 2 arena football teams that were force onto the local San Antonio Sports fans. San Antonio fans want a NFL team then anything else don't listen to these naysayers, if that was the case we've would never have our beloved NBA SPURS relocated here.

Bingo. This concept is also the same for the business community.

How in the world did Greenbay Wisconsin end up being awarded a NFL franchise back in the day, WHAT TV MARKET. Green bay will always be a tiny town with political market TV clout giving to it without earning it. It is convenient just to say TV marketing is not the same the way it use to be. The only way San Antonio giving credit being a excellent NFL sports metro it supports other adopted teams....

You realize that the Green Bay Packers existed *before* television was invented, right? They're owned by hundreds of thousands of individuals instead of just one and insanely community-invested vs purely profit-driven. Every game at Green Bay has been sold out for the past 50 years - their fan base is insane and predates the importance of television markets. Trying to compare San Antonio to Green Bay is ridiculous.

The day I quit posting, when the shrine of TEXAS call SAN ANTONIO receive's a NFL franchise. The great NFL owners that are not selfish when their TV market domain is compromise know how to share and make their franchise special, others don't they bragg about signing players with illegal baggage to make it worse no class some fans love that. NFL award San Antonio a franchise and we'll will build this team special like our SPURS. Two major league franchises that are special work perfect side by side.

I completely agree. San Antonio is so deserving of an NFL franchise that it is beyond ridiculous that the city has yet to gain one. But beyond "deserving" a team the city has grown by leaps and bounds over the last twenty or so years and is now more than capable economically of supporting more than one professional sports franchise.

40 years ago or so naysayers such as the ones that populate this forum said that bringing in a professional basketball team was preposterous and could never work. Now the Spurs are a flagship NBA franchise, wildly successful and are regarded as the best professionally run sports franchise in the four major sports leagues. The exact same thing can and will happen here with an NFL team if the city would only be given the chance.

As I've said before I view the NFL coming to San Antonio as inevitable and I still do. By virtual of being an economically stable, growing and very viable community compared to other similarly sized NFL cities the fact that SA does not already have a team is a downright travesty.

Not a flame, but trying to say Green Bay ( the town ) is better than San Antonio in any way shape or form is a serious WTH? kind of scenario. Since the midwest became the rust belt, Green Bay has become the Ghetto/Underarm of Wisconsin. What the Packers do have going for them is as you pointed out they are fan owned, and draw significantly on the surrounding region due to their history & tradition. When many here have tried to point out that a San Antonio franchise could easily draw from Austin/Waco/Tyler/Rio Grand Valley/ --Even DFW & Houston to fill seats ( like the Packers do ) the naysayers come out the woodwork and give a million reasons + 1 as to why that can`t/won`t happen. I say if the Spurs can do well - An NFL team could too. In fact, given the rate of growth, there should be NO reason as to why in the next 20-25 years that San Antonio couldnt also support an MLB team.
