Hi All,

First time poster, long term lurker. Thanks to all in this forum who have provided such helpful information.

Well she has finally decided to do it - move back to San Antonio. After ten years in Las Vegas she wants to downsize and move back to Texas. A brief background on my mom: She is still healthy and spry at 80 but she is slowing down. She still drives but only within her neighborhood. She used to live in Northwest Crossing many years ago but heard the neighborhood was not as good as what it once was. She is thinking about an Apartment in The 78209 zip code to get her feet wet. I want to buy her a little cottage inside 410 to live out her days gardening and thrift store shopping, and the most important thing is her safety. Our budget is around $200,000.00. Other zip codes we have looked at include 78212. 78201. 78228. I have heard Los Angeles Heights, Jefferson Terrace, and Woodlawn are up and coming areas, and offer good values. What do you all think? Thanks.

Look at Wilshire village, inside 410, convient to NE baptist, cute little houses, 78209 adjacent.

Oakwell Farms has nice garden homes and apartments in 78209. I know of several elder people who have downsized from Monte Vista and Olmos Park to settle at Oakwell Farms.
