Anyone know why they're clearing land at 1604 and Bulverde rd? Not sure if they're selling or preparing to build. I can't seem to find info anywhere.

Wal-Mart would be my guess. They're adding a bunch of stores in this area and they've been rumored to be building at this interchange for years.

Rumors of a Walmart on Bulverde

There were two things rumored for that area. On the NE corner there was supposed to be an HEB Pantry going in along with a strip center. On the NW corner there was supposed to be a Lowes going in. Both those plans reference 2 year old information.

I can't imagine a Wal-Mart going in there when they have a Super Walmart just a couple miles away at 1604 and 281.

I just found this document. It looks an HEB is going in where there had been a Lowes slotted to go.

If this link works it's for the N.E. corner of Bulverde and 1604.

Imagine it. There's a Wal-Mart at 10 and De Zavala and then one at De Zavala and Lockhill Selma, like 2 miles from each other. It's happening (even though not at 1604 and Bulverde).

Thanks for everyone's help.

The HEB is still going up but that's on the NW corner and not slated to begin until 2015. Also, I don't believe it's a pantry store (at least according to my HEB infrastructure contact.) Lowes was supposed to go in at the NE corner but, from what I've heard, there were some environmental road blocks that they couldn't get past.

The land that's being cleared is on the NE corner (next to on either side of Chase). According to BadSpellar's find it looks like it could be Security Service FCU, Taco Bell, Walgreens, Gold's Gym, and a few other retail stores.

It would be sad if it weren't so frightening...
