It has terrific food with most everything made on the premises including the decadent Virginia Green's chocolate cake. You can also have a drink at the old bar and the building itself was originally a German grocery store built in 1890 so the atmosphere is unique. It's definitely worth the drive..check out the website and the entree menu which changes daily.

We have been meaning to go here, but I had no idea the food was like that! Oh wow I'm excited to go now. I thought it was just bar food. That menu looks amazing, I think I know now where I'm taking hubby for his b'day this weekend. Awesome!
Great website too (To the OP)

For authentic Thai food - you MUST try Asia Kitchen on Marbach and 410. My husband and I both swear it's the best Thai food we've had in years. One of his patients, who is Thai, agrees and says it's the best in SA.

Patty's Mexican Restaurant on Hackberry is wonderful! They have wonderul tortillas and their enchiladas are declicious. It is a friendly, family-run place. I don't think it is open at night - if someone knows different, let me know.

Alamo Cafe
For me, no visit to the Alamo City is complete unless I watch the cooks at Alamo Cafe make homemade tortillas. It doesn't get any better than that.
