Hi, I have a possible job opportunity in SA, I live in South Austin...was wondering how bad the commute would be if I had to do it awhile until I can get myself relocated to SA. Is it possible /do-able for short term?

Thanks!

LOL! Okay, that answers my question. Yeah, I bet it really is that bad, isn't it? It looks like it is better find a short term place there before I start the job (that is if I get the offer, I am still in the interview process right now).

A lot of people do it, but it is a mess.
Depends a lot also on what time you go, and of course where in San Antonio you work.
Be sure your car can go at least 90 mph, or drive in the right lane. Wish I were kidding.
Good luck!

If it was the East side of SA or downtown you could take the toll rd 130 and come in on IH 10 it wouldn't be bad at all.

i have worked with guys that have done it for a while before they relocated. if i recall, to be at work at 8am you would need to wake up around 430am and leave around 5 to 530am.

Thanks, rctsat! That is a good suggestion! I will definitely check into that as an option! That would be much better than the traffic on the 35. Would not be doing this for long, hopefully only a couple of weeks.

That would be a long day, considering they also would have the commute home in the evening, probably another 2 hours at least. Rough.

I didn't even like commuting 45 min. to San Marcos a couple of days a week, and the traffic wasn't even that bad at the times I drove. I would cry if I had to drive to and from Austin everyday.
