It is more liberal and home of UT Austin. It has alot of unique shopping, great restaurants and lively nightlife. SA is a very laid back and conservative town. The best thing about SA is the weather and the low cost of living. Austin is more expensive. Roundrock outside of Austin is a popular area.

San Antonio has more art and culture. S.A. has two arts districts, five or six vaudeville historic theatres. More entertainment, more culture, better musuems, better shopping. Austin has sixth street, which is cool. Did I mention, Austin has sixth steet?

Btw the pictures above only look like that at the beginning of a NORMAL spring and there bit doctored. If you want jagged rocky hills Northern SA of western Austin is best. If you wanting blackland or sandy soil with HUGE trees eastern SA in Wilson County all the way to Comal county.
Politically Austin is liberal and San Antonio is more conservative. If you have kids San Antonio is better. If you want more culture San Antonio winds hand down. If you are into the college scene pick Austin. Weather is the exact same . (Austin might get more rain in the fall but the sea breeze brings more rain to San Antonio in the summer.

Thanks so much for your help. It is quiet confusing. We are going in a couple of weeks to look at Houston, San Antonio and Austin areas. Must find employment and first time ever moving somewhere without a job. yikes this is scarey.
You guys have saved me hours searching on the net. And Please
No more realtors asking to sell me a home. I have already registered with Costco.com for their .75% rebate for purchasing and must use specific real estate firms to capture that rebate. Good thing for me I am buying 2 houses and will get rebates on each.
