Default Medallion Homes

Hi.. Just wanted to get some opinions from some of you who own or rent homes built by Medallion. I've been looking at the Alamo Ranch area, and I really like what I've seen from Medallion. Love the hardwood floors, chair railing and tile work, and their homes don't appear as "cookie cutter" as a lot of the homes I've seen out in the area. Any opinions or feedback?

We've lived in a Medallion home for just over a year now and love it. The warranty service has been great too (we bought ours new). We've found the quality to be excellent. I don't know anything about the Alamo Ranch homes since I live closer to the IH10. The home models are the same in all of their subdivisions but they change the names. Their spec homes are great deals, we and our friends both bought spec homes and love the upgrades that came with very decent price tags.

I personally like all the Medallion Homes I've been in. Three of my friends live in Medallion Homes and I've probably been in 3 or 4 other Medallion Homes of non-friends.

We bought a Medallion home off of Potranco rd. We love it so far. We've only been here a month and it's not given us any problems. I can't say anything about the company because we bought ours pre-owned. I have heard very good things about them though.

I almost bought a Medallion home due to their great floor plans (Langford, Jennings, etc), elevations, and nice neighborhood. We had put earnest money down and all. The only reason we opted out was that we found out we'd be annexed in no time adding to already higher taxes (Helotes) than where we are now. IMHO, the issue of "quality" is such a moving target these days that you can practically find major issues across all builders. Don't just judge a builder by how pretty their models look. HYOI.

Quality is driven by the quality of the job site manager/contractor. If he is on top of his subs you get well built houses - if not then you will have problems.

On that note, Medallion game me the number of our site manager and he was wonderful. Very responsive to all of our questions and volunteered to open up our house when the movers got here if we hadn't made it into town before they got here. He was also the one who got me the number for the sprinkler system guys so I could do the Saturday job for $1k less than the going rate.

I love my Medallion home. Very un-cookie cutter floor plans and great customer service. I had a few odd-ball plumbing issues when I first moved in and they not only ensured the city fixed everything (it wasn't Medallion's fault) they also put me up in a hotel until the repairs and clean-up were complete.
Not sure about Alamo Ranch, but in Trophy Ridge they only cut down the trees that were necessary to fit the house on the lot. Gives the new neighborhood a look of being there for years!
The design center was really great, too. Nice to see life-sized samples of the doors, carpets, countertops, etc...
Happy hunting!
