My husband who works in the Cyprus tower said the building is on lockdown.
This happened right in front of their building.

We probably shouldn't speculate here. Assume that the victim's family will be reading.

We shouldn't speculate, but looks like someone did right after you. I feel bad for the victim because it seems like he was just minding his business on the bus according to the article.

Sounds so random, and completely senseless. May he RIP.

San Antonio is really a friendly town, and making eye contact is usually the norm, but from the story, it's likely what got him killed.

This can happen in any big city, but it is still surprising in San Antonio as generally this kind of random violence is not common here.

I doubt the victim had time react, but this is another good reason why people need to be prepared to defend themselves.

Such crime, while rare, still can occur anytime and anywhere.

May the victim rest in peace.

Default Absolutely,

Underscore, "happen anywhere in any big city". Max is right. San Antonio is a sleepy little city compared to some places.
Just what was cautioned against by Bo- all of this wild, speculative posting here , wild speculation and a lot of hysterics. There is quite the number of Amateur Sleuths gathered here in one place and posting on this thread.

Well, violent crime is on the rise here:

Despite the decade-long national trend toward lower violent crime rates, San Antonio experienced a 27 percent increase in the past 12 months.
There were more than 8,800 violent crimes reported to the San Antonio Police Department in 2013, according to data released by the FBI. The number brings San Antonio's crime level to the highest since 2008.

Yeah, I took my information from the actual news story linked in the original post. Deal With it. ...There was a murder in your sleepy little town. Jeez.

So horrible. Prayers for the victim's family. I get the feeling the suspect isn't from here.
