Does anyone know what happened to Ruperto's? They were off of Blanco and 1604. I used to love to get their cakes because they had pink cake boxes. I can't believe that they would go out of business. They had a delicious cake with real, sliced strawberries in the middle with cream. Mmmm.

Now I am at a loss as far as where to get my daughter's bday cake. I am looking for somewhere near 1604 and Blanco-Huebner-Bitters-281 area. I love Lucy's but it is too far. Any recommendations? I would just get Costco, it is yummy, but this will be for my youngest daughter who will be turning 5, so I want it more custom.

I saw that. I believe that is the same spot Ruberto's used to be at. I went to their website and it looks like only the babcock location is doing custom cakes. I may be wrong, but that is how I understood it. Then again, it was after midnight when I was reading it, and I was tired. LOl

Default Rupertos

There was another place a little further down Blanco (at Blanco & Cadillac) too. in the same shopping center as Subway. There is another place (Cake Garden?) at Blanco and Churchill Estates too.

Still remembering all these places after planning my wedding last year...

That cake bakery is gone now.

There is a bakery cafe next to where it used to be located, but it doesn't look like the kind of place that gets a lot of wedding cake business. It's a great little place to stop for lunch, though.

Well, these types of places seem to look like they would need at least a weeks notice. Since the party is for this Sunday, I just went ahead and went to Costco. Since I am picking it up on a Sunday (most cake places I have seen are closed on Sunday), it will be made that morning. Did you know they make their cakes and frosting from scratch? They even use ingredients sold at their store. I read that in one of their monthly magazines.

Oh, and you can't a beat a 1/2 sheet size that feeds 48 people for $15 and some change. That also includes a filling. You can't get the customized cakes, but I just went and bought some Pirates of the Caribbean figures and will stick them on the cake.
