Understood, and you are right. Just understand we live in a city...yes a city in Illinois, and has had 5 murders in 3 years. Now from reading the the paper and crime stats in Texas, there is really no comparison. I served a tour overseas, saw action, and understand danger is anywhere. My girlfriend is also a concern of mine and she will not live in an area with high crime. We go to Chicago all the time, it has a very rich history of crime, but some areas you are an idiot for going to, esp. if you are white, because there will almost definately be a crime where you are the vic. That is all I'm trying to establish I thought someone would assess that from my post.
So yes, crime is all around, the world is dangerous, etc., you could die anytime anywhere. But not everywhere is gang infested, crack/meth houses, and that is all I was wanting to avoid.
From what I gather from the responses the area around the college is pretty safe as is the outlying areas north west. I truely thank everyone for the info and their time.

John,

I made this and posted it once but I can't seem to find the thread.

Here is a self made map of areas in San Antonio that I have labled from "avoid" to "great." This is a map I made with all honesty, with 22 years of living here experience. From driving throw the areas to crime reports and data, etc.

Hope it helps.
