Hi! Glady, i'm new here too, (2 yrs.) and if u wanna get in touch, lunch sometimes, (choc dee is my fav.), you can email me at netct@yahoo.com. I'm really very friendly, and very FILIPINA too, sooo give me a shout,'k?

Does anybody know where I can find Filipino or Fil-Am communities here in San Antonio? I have been here for a year and 7 days in this city since I arrived and I only met few friends. I really want to meet new friends even if not Filipino or Fil-am. I feel so boring at home and not working at this time because I have a baby.

Thank you.

Glady

Our family is planning to move to SA from Michigan next year. This is so far the snowiest winter we've had and it seemed that it's been going on (cold weather) every year. We've been living here in the midwest for more than 15 years and enough is enough. We want warmer weather and a little bit closer to our family in Houston. What area (city) would you guys recommend for us? My wife and I have a 10 year old and an 8 year old. We're looking for the best public school district or shall we say one of the best districts in the SA area. I heard North and Northeast are the top tiers? Correct us if we're wrong please.

Is it ok to live in the city or should we stay in the 'burbs. A lot of posters here are saying Schertz, Cibolo, Universal City are the finest neighborhoods in SA...Are there a lot of Filipinos in this area?

Schertz is a very nice suburb of San Antonio. Safe, quiet, nice, etc. It's in the SCUC-ISD which is a good metro school district. As for the Filipino population, in 2000 the percentage of Filipino's was .5 and if that same percentage exsist today then there's be about 300 Filipinos today. Keep in mind in 2000 that .5 would have meant only 90. Schertz has gone through a major growth spurt since 2000.

Default Mekeni Grill

You can also go to Mekeni Grill in Universal City (810 Kitty Hawk) they have buffet for 8.99 everyday. They have a whole spread, kimchi, sushi, seafood, dinuguan, lumpia, lechon you name it. The restaurant is owned by the same owner of Chok Dee. If you kids that are in sports and if you live in or near the Stone Oak Area, we have Stone Oak Sports, look it up in google. My friend and the VP for WAMU founded the organization. They have line up with Spurs and Walter Kramer who was Antonio Daniels (former Spurs) trainer.

This is very good info. I am a new arrival in San Antonio myself and can still count by my fingers the number of pinoys/pinays I've met so far. I will be visiting this place. Also, any info where to buy produce and fish market?
