I've had Chili's ribeye, and I must say, at every location other than Culebra and 1604, it's been very good.
We haven't gotten a good steak at Little Red Barn in about 10 years, so we've scratched it off the list.
The last 2 times at Saltgrass were unimpressive, too, so hopefully they were just having a couple of bad nights.
I'll have to try TX Land and Cattle again--wasn't that impressed on my first go-round with them.
We love Texas Roadhouse lately--they do a pretty decent steak.
The best are in our own backyard, though.

I had eaten there a couple of times. Although food was good, it was nothing to write home about. I remember that the acoustics were bad as it got really noisy during lunch time. It would make a good dance hall though.

I am not trying to change the subject but it just dawned on me that there is not a great seafood restaurant either to write home about. I can understand the seafood but not the steak... this is TX afterall.

I had a ribeye at Chili's off of 151 and 410 and it was just a chunk of fat. I am not willing to chance it again. I have heard that Texas Roadhouse was pretty good but we haven't been there yet.
I haven also had prime rib at J Alexanders at the Quarry and it was awesome! In fact, I have eaten there a couple of times and the service and food were great.

I've eaten at Josephine's a hundred times...never heard it called a steak house. They call it a cafe and the neon says steaks and whiskey...but after 49 yrs in SA, I know better.
I want steak, Morton's, Ruth's Chris, the Palm, Bohanan's, Little Rhein, GMI, TLC...

funny someone just mentioned this to me:
He said years ago (maybe 20) when they used to come to SA they ate at this little place called the Red Barn and all they served was chicken fried steak. I'd never heard of it.
And Red Barn and The Barn Door are not the same thing.

I apologize for calling the Barn Door by the name "Red Barn". It has been closed since we moved here and I had never saw a sign for it, just information that I got from some people in the area.

Now that we've established that The Little Red Barn and The Barn Door are two different restaurants, I'd be interested to hear opinions on which is better from people who've eaten at both.
