I am debating to rent an apartment in the Springs at Bandera (78249) or Abbey at Stone Oak(78258).
This is what I am considering. Most important thing is schools & safety. Second, commute/low traffic to UTSA (dental school). What do you think I should go for (sight unseen, will reserve online).

-prices are similar for a 2bed/bath
-SB is older construction
-SB is closer to Univ.Texas San Antonio = less traffic?
-ABO have higher rated schools
-ABO have safer area (?) = outside 1604 loop
-SB has more things to do around (?)

Thank you for your opinion!

I'd pick the one in Stone Oak. The schools in NEISD are mostly better than the ones in NISD. You will have a longer drive to UTSA but it would still be worth it.

Personally, I would opt for northwest just for the benefit of not having to deal with as much traffic.

When we say "traffic", is it a high volume of cars but still flows or stopped traffic at rush hour? rush hour only or all the time?

The Bandera complex is closer to urhscsa. Traffic will be horrible either location. Both school districts are good.

Rush hour traffic crawls near the Bandera area and stops in the Stone Oak area. There are more lights in Stone oak then on Bandera.

From Abbey @ SO, you would take either Stone Oak Parkway N to 281 S to 1604 E, or, Stone Oak Parkway South to 1604 W, or SOP South to Huebner Rd, to 1604 W.

Many people in this area commute that way, very doable.

Its good to know that there are alternative routes! How about from there down San Pedro Ave. My hubby may work for CPS.

281 and San Pedro join (or split) right by 410. It would be around a 20+ minute commute, depending on hours.

You can Google map it and show traffic, and check that at various times of the day. Last summer, I commuted to the Windcrest area in about 28 minutes. (much farther)

DEFINATELY BETTER OFF with STONE OAK! Schools and Traffic are much better than Bandera Road. The neighborhoods for one are like night and day. If you're going to live anywhere in San Antonio, you're better off in Stone Oak BY FAR!. This I know from living here. The Schools without saying are MUCH better in Stone Oak, not to mention the crime rate. Almost non-existent in Stone Oak. Quiet - well to do homes and families.
