Best Real Estate investment is where the JOBS are!!!
Know this is going to rain on the parade of those who seem to take every chance the can to bash our beautiful city (and state) but we are not standing in the unemployment lines here! And like it or not, the best places to invest in REAL ESTATE is where the jobs are!!!!

SA is ranked number 11 out of 100 cities. I did notice that the comments are from the press secretary to Texas Govenor. Maybe a little slighted.
I love SA and hope the growth and prosperity continue. I also wish it would stay a secret so that SA would not become a huge city like NY, LA, or Seattle.

You are correct about the real estate comment and now is definitely the time. I have driven by many new developments and it looks like the prices aren't going any way but up.
I'm not bashing, but I will say that those lists change frequently and it also depends on the demographic, so they kind of need to be taken with a grain of salt b/c what one person loves in a city another doesn't. Case in point, I go through these lists a lot and noticed once entitled "Best City for Young Professionals" in Nov. or Dec. of this past year. SA was no where on the list. So if you're not settled down yet, don't have children, have a degree, etc. SA may not be your best choice.

According to Metrostudy, we're supposed to create 85,000 new jobs in the next 5 years, which means that our economy is looking good. Prices in SA appreciated an average of about 6% last year. Nothing mind blowing, but nice and steady. When you look at the big picture, 2007 was a better year real estate wise than 2004, which was the year that people couldn't believe the growth and investors started taking a serious look at SA. It was just a little down from the previous year, but still incredibly strong.
Most of this is due to job creation and our economy.
