Also I just had my inspection and picked up my new tags. The total cost is $14.50. I paid $7.00 at the station I was inspected and then charged $7.50 at the Tax Assessors office.

I really can't understand why this is so complicated for a lot of people. The only thing that has changed is now you take the VIR with you when you get your sticker...smh

I'm pretty sure it's supposed to be $7 at the place that does the inspection. Maybe it's up to the place to price it but it looks like you can get them for $7.

"Official Inspection Stations" is the LAST place you want to get your vehicle inspected. Under the old system they were charging $21 for an inspection while across the street CarX was charging $14.88.

Someone at the state would like to hear about inspection stations charging more than the mandated fee.

I'm sure they figured out a way around it, they've been doing it for years and haven't been reprimanded by the state. BTW, the word "fees" comes to mind.
