If your are trying to get situated I would call Randolph Field Realty. They helped us purchase a house from Germany and we like the area were are in Converse. They are family owned and Cheryl was a military spouse and the owners are a military family. If you need to find a place that meets your needs and want someone that is honest I would call (210)659-8844 and ask for her. We were referred to them by a family in Germany that has been working with them for over a decade. If your husband is looking for a particular job I might be able to help, I have gotten some good leads since I got out of the Army and I am also presently looking for a job also. You can e-mail me at averghesemoore@hotmail.com

I past the first round of interviews. Is it common for Boeing to go through a second round of interviews?
They also mention attending training in Renton, is this also common?

When I first interviewed 12 years ago in Everett, WA, I got an offer a few weeks after the interview. 2 years ago, I was still working at Boeing in Everett, but I applied for a position here in San Antonio. I interviewed over the phone, and 5 weeks after the interview, I got an offer. There was not a second interview either time. Good Luck!!

Well, it looks I got a contract position with Boeing starting in Mid May, but it is with Boeing Commercial. It looks like I will be working at the support center and it is a full time position in the support center, with a Friday to Thursday work week.

Congratulations! Sounds like you will be on the 787 program. I begin my training next week to help out on the 787.

I did not know anybody worked such a work week as Friday to Thursday. We work a 9/80 work week, which is 9 hour days with every other Friday off. On the working Friday, we only do 8 hours. It's a good schedule as long as we're not doing a ton of overtime and end up working every Friday and Saturday.

Yeah, I will be part of the 787 program, working with supply. I was under the assumption, during the interview that it was a regular daytime position. I'm a little worried about what I am going to do when my husband is gone on business trips since I drop the kids off at 7, but we always thought of soemthing when we were in the Army, I guess this won't be different.

I got an e-mail about a delay with the 787 program here in San Antonio, so now I do not have a definite start date anymore ): Is this usual for Boeing to delay things for months at a time? It might not be a bad thing, I was thinking about going home and visiting my parents for a couple of months and letting them spoil the grandkids.

To say there is upheaval and turmoil in the airline industry these days would be an understatement. There have been 5 airlines which have gone out of business in the last month and there are 2 major airline mergers proposed. Boeing is probably being appropriately cautious about ramping up production on a new model when there is legitimate reason to be concerned that its airline customers won't be able to (or won't be around to) pay for the planes they've ordered.
