Exactly!!

Look what has happened to Blanco and West Avenue Area.. Supposedly Katrina people were dumped there; none the less, that whole NORTH SIDE area is more ghetto than the southside!!!

Considering the Northside has way more people living in it of course it has less desirable areas too. That being said it would be really hard to make an argument that the Southside is as nice as the Northside as a whole. (or even close)

Just by reading your statement, I can honestly say that I think it reeks of bias.

Look at a map and you can easily see the population difference.

Using city council districts you can clearly see the the Northside has more people.

Judging by all your question asking all the time I'd wait for someone else to weigh in before digging up the exact number.

I wasn't talking about population numbers. If what you are saying is that more people = more desirable area then I feel that you are flat out wrong.

I was saying the exact opposite.

When the Northside has twice as many people and covers alot more area thank the Southside, of course you will have pockets of less desirable areas.

To me, population numbers is mutually exclusive to how many "pockets of less desirable" areas one side of town has.

Just my two cents.

Most areas north of Mitchell or Steves have always been more commercialized. Might call it "Southertown" as compared to "Southtown". Certainly anything north of 90/I-10 should be considered near downtown area over "southside".

As for the trailer park on Mission rd. across from the old Riverside golf course it was well kept last I saw (went through it a few years ago). I'm sure the builders assumed the River reach improvements would make the western view more palatable for tenants. The east view looking onto the golf course will be fine. Easy access up Mission rd north to Steves provides easy access to downtown via Probandt then Alamo or east to Roosevelt/St.Mary's or New Braunfels. Mission Rd. has seen a lot of improvement in and around Mission Conception as well. The new CPS building and on up to the Lone Star complex envisioned improvements should be a plus.

The "southside" has been deteriorating for more than 40 years. The middle class flight has proven be an open invitation to the less desirable, less fortunate and well some folks that shouldn't even be here. There is hope though. Despite the military downsizing and the closing of Brooks and the re-alignment or should i say reassignment of Kelly AFB the "southside" is still growing and expanding. Toyota has to get much of the credit. Since they arrived we've seen total transformation of certain areas. Barrett Industries going out of business also added tons of real estate for the commercial explosion at Zarzamora and I-35.

The closing and turnover of Brooks to the city has turned a historically significant site into a commercial boon for the southeast side. Best part of town in my opinion at this time.

We have 4 of the 5 historic missions, we had the last drive-in and had 4 military bases and historic Stinson Field. The "South Side" has never been San Antonio's step child. We have lots of new housing, lots of new jobs, businesses and at least 3 colleges. Considering the neighbors you could get stuck with no matter where you live, I'd say searching out a "niche" is a common practice.
