We're in the market for a pool but want to go with a company that has demonstrated that they could produce a lasting product. I have heard good things about Gary, Keith Zars, Blue Haven, Pool Concepts, and a small builder called Cantera BUT I haven't spoken with anybody who has had their pool for 10+ years.

We want a good quality pool that can last (think the pool equivalent of a Toyota/Honda) but we don't need the top of the line (pool equivalent of Mercedes/BMW).

Please provide some insight.

Thank you...

My FIL had his built by Gary Pools in 2002. The pool itself has been fine, he has had a few issues with the pump. He initially began as well with a solar heater, but has now switched to electric.

The build itself, however, they were not happy with, although I cannot remember exactly why. I know that some adjustments had to me made along the way as they found issues, but all in all I think it went well.

Most people I know used Gary pools; they have been around a long time and have most of the older homes as clients here in S.A.

I am a pool builder I would call Zars or Pool Concepts. You might want to consider Cody as well. They will carry a different line of products, I prefer Pentair EQ and Paramount drains and ancillary items. Keith Zars will carry a different line. Between those three you will have 3 solid companies at a value price point. If you have further questions you may pm me.

I had a Keith Zars pool installed in 2009 (I know not quite 10 years). I don't have a problem with the pool build itself but have gone through replacing some pool equipment already, replacing a hi/lo speed pump, and some other various knick-knacks. Nothing major. The pebbletec gunite still looks new.

The next thing I will be doing is ripping off (not literally) all of the ozone equipment. I have discovered that it is a waste of money and would not recommend anyone getting that setup when buying a pool. Not sure if anyone still does.

I also can't recommend Keith Zar's pool service or that yearly protection plan but if you have money to throw away, then go for it.
