I am new to San Antonio and wanting to meet some folks of my persuasion(black). Is Pappadeaux a safe bet? Is it consistent with rest of the Texas locations where most black folks flock to? Any other decent restaurants with a bar that me and my girlfriend can frequent to meet other black folks?

I don't remember seeing very many black people at all in there. That's news to me that it's "where most black folks flock to" at the other locations. As you know, black people are a small percentage of the population here in SA (unlike Dallas, Houston). Not sure where they flock to. I'm sure someone will chime in.

I really don't know where black people hang out in San Antonio. Most of the people I see riding 10speed bikes out in the Hill Country all seem to be white. I think most black people in San Antonio live on the eastside, but they can be found all over the city. Many have retired here from the military. You might look online at SA Current magazine or email then if they know of any places popular with blacks, like clubs etc. Are there blacks where you work? If so maybe ask them what activities they enjoy.
Everyone goes to the Spurs games. There is also the hockey team,The San Antonio Rampage, The soccer team the Scorpions, and The San Antonio baseball team, the Missions. We even have some sort of football team, but they aren't part of the NFL,nor do I even remember their name.
I do know that Mr.And Mrs.G's restaurant on W.W.White Road(also known as Loop13) is popular with all kinds of people. They serve soul food. There's also Mama Lee's Kitchen which is soulfood.
Everyone here in San Antonio pretty much mixes for the most part.

I never thought about it until you asked, but I see a large number of blacks eating at Pappadeaux.

Yes, especially Friday before 5pm for happy hour.

Likewise. I noticed this the last time I was there.
